(Pilsen, 23rd June 2026) - Doosan Škoda Power announces that the Kyzylorda combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Kazakhstan has successfully commenced full commercial operation. This represents a significant milestone in the modernization of the energy infrastructure of both the region and the entire country, one that will lead to greater reliability and efficiency of energy supplies.

The heat and power plant in Kazakhstan's Kyzylorda region operates by means of a natural gas combined-cycle facility built by the company AKSA Energy. This facility has an output of approximately 264 MW. Doosan Škoda Power contributed to the project by delivering a 95 MW steam turbine (DST-S10) including the associated equipment. In addition to the delivery of the steam turbine and accessories, Doosan Škoda Power provided technical consultancy and on-site support directly during installation and commissioning to ensure seamless integration and reliable operation.

The steam turbine is designed as a single-casing unit with a double-shell construction in the reverse (return) steam flow section. It operates as a back-pressure turbine with two steam extractions, one controlled and one uncontrolled, which supply steam to two district heating water heaters.

"This project demonstrates how complex energy solutions can be realized through close cooperation and strong teamwork. Together with our partners, we have transformed a project with many challenges into a reliable part of the energy infrastructure that today contributes to greater reliability of energy supplies," says Petr Flaška, Project Manager at Doosan Škoda Power.

Regional Energy security
The heat and power plant has successfully passed both testing and regulatory approval and is now a fully-fledged part of the regional energy grid. At the same time, it plays a significant role in strengthening the energy security of the Kyzylorda area and supports Kazakhstan's transition to more efficient and cleaner energy sources.

"The successful commissioning of the Kyzylorda Power Plant ahead of schedule is a significant achievement for Aksa Energy and a testament to the dedication of all stakeholders involved. The commissioning of the plant marks a major milestone for the region, significantly strengthening the electricity supply of Kyzylorda and Southern Kazakhstan. Furthermore, the CHP facility will meet a considerable share of Kyzylorda’s district heating demand, enhancing energy reliability while supporting the region’s economic and social development," says Algan Saracoglu of AKSA Energy.

This heat and power plant represents the third major project for Doosan Škoda Power in Kazakhstan, following the Karabatan and Turkistan combined-cycle power plants. The projects in Kazakhstan are an important element of the sustainable growth strategy through which Doosan Škoda Power continues to expand its global presence. At the same time, this contributes to energy security and the long-term support of the development of the markets in which the company operates.
