December Xnd, 2023; Pilsen, Czech Republic – ORLEN has signed an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract with Doosan Škoda Power for the modernization of two TG-4 and TG-5 turbine sets each with a capacity of 55 MW at the Company’s Combined Heat and Power Plant in Plock, as well as a long-term service agreement (LTSA). The new generating units are characterized by significantly higher energy efficiency. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2029. The total value of the project will be above 125 million EUR (540 MPLN).

Tomáš Winkler, project manager of Doosan Škoda Power, said: “Thanks to the EPC formula contract, we will carry out the investment on a turnkey basis including design, production, assembly, commissioning and long term service agreement. The new turbine sets and their auxiliaries will have energy efficiency approximately 9% higher than the current ones, which will improve the efficiency of electricity generation.”

In order to maintain the continuity and safety of operation of the Company’s Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant, the TG-4 turbine generator will be modernized in the first stage, and after its commissioning, another one will be upgraded: TG-5. The LTSA contract covers a period of 10 years for each of the modernized turbine sets, starting after completion of 3 years warranty period. The Company’s Combined Heat and Power Plant already operates a 70 MW TG-7 turbine generator set, which was manufactured and commissioned in 2017 by the Doosan Škoda Power.
