Doosan Škoda Power employees once again demonstrated their commitment to the Pilsen region by dedicating a day to volunteer work at various local organizations. A total of 92 volunteers contributed their time and effort to schools, hospitals, zoos, an animal shelter, and more. Their activities included gardening, cleaning, facility maintenance, and blood donation.

“As a major employer in the region, we recognize our responsibility to the local community,” said Richard Kabuď, Human Resources Director at Doosan Škoda Power. “Our volunteer activities are primarily about helping others, but also about connecting our team with organizations in our vicinity. We believe that the impact of our work extends beyond steam turbines and high-quality engineering, and that together we can contribute to making the Pilsen region an even better place to live.”

This year’s Day of Community Service, held on 18 September, saw employees engaged in a diverse range of activities at 14 organizations, many of which have become long-term partners through repeated collaboration. Popular initiatives included landscaping, outdoor maintenance, and minor repairs, primarily at schools and kindergartens. Employees also provided support at the Animal Shelter in Pilsen, the Pilsen Zoo, and even at Brno Zoo where six volunteers lent a hand.

At the University Hospital in Pilsen, employees continued the tradition of donating blood. They also joined senior citizens in preparing a no-bake cake and assisted with paving at the Lochotín facility.

At DEPO2015, volunteers prepared the roof for reconstruction by clearing the necessary space and dismantling a sandbox in the courtyard. Meanwhile, at the Větvička Forest School, volunteers constructed raised garden beds and a dog shelter, chopped wood, and painted a wooden playhouse.

Community centres also benefited from the day of service. At the Čtyřlístek Home with a Special Regime and the Radovánek Leisure Centre, Doosan Škoda Power employees focused on maintaining the premises. At the TOTEM Intergenerational Volunteer Centre, volunteers baked cookies and linzerhearts.

Doosan Škoda Power has a long-standing tradition of holding an annual Day of Community Service. After a pause due to the pandemic, this meaningful event has been reinstated, allowing employees to once again dedicate a workday to giving back to their community.
