Doosan Škoda Power to be the Main Partner of This Year's Prague Spring International Music Festival
Global turbine manufacturer Doosan Škoda Power a.s. has become the new Main Partner of the Prague Spring International Music Festival. The company will associate its brand with the landmark 80th edition of the festival, which begins on May 12th and runs until June 3rd, 2025.
The most prestigious classical music event in the Czech Republic boasts a long tradition and a broad and diverse program. It is a strong brand with significant historical value, a quality that unites the international music festival and the leading engineering company.
"Turbines from the Plzeň plant are known to generations of engineers worldwide. For over 120 years, we have been powering industries and homes. Just as music provides impetus to our lives, the global resonance of the Prague Spring festival is rooted in Czech culture. It is an immense honor for us to be the Main Partner, and we are delighted to showcase the best of what the Czech Republic has to offer to the world," said Youngki Lim, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Doosan Škoda Power. The manufacturer of turbines and related technological equipment is a successor to the former Škoda Works and is now part of the robust Korean Doosan Group.
"We are very pleased that Doosan Škoda Power a.s. has strengthened the partnership structure of the Prague Spring festival, especially in the year when the festival celebrates its eightieth anniversary. Although we operate in different spheres, we share much in common: both institutions boast a rich history and the ability to connect Czech talent with the international stage. We rely on a strong tradition, but we also know that success requires bold ideas and innovation. And we bring only the highest quality to our customers and supporters," says Pavel Trojan, Director of the Prague Spring festival. "For many years, we have been keenly aware of how Korean audiences appreciate the top-tier performances of Prague Spring artists, and in the last decade, we have also witnessed an unprecedented rise in the quality of Korean performers. The phenomenal success of pianist Seong-Jin Cho's recital at last year's festival is a testament to this. Statistics from the Prague Spring International Music Competition also show that young Korean artists are among its most successful participants in recent years. I, therefore, consider the partnership with Doosan Škoda Power to be a logical outcome of the cultural and economic understanding between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Korea. It brings together leaders in their respective fields and strengthens the position of the Prague Spring among the most important European festivals," he added.
Doosan Škoda Power will also be a partner of the Boston Symphony Orchestra concert on May 14th at the Municipal House and the concert of the renowned historical instrument ensemble Concentus Musicus Wien on May 24th at the Rudolfinum.
The Prague Spring International Music Festival is the classical music festival with the longest tradition in the Czech Republic. Held annually in May since 1946, it was founded on the initiative of Czech conductor Rafael Kubelík. Since 1947, the Prague Spring International Music Competition has been an integral part of the festival. This prestigious event in the world of classical music is built on the interaction and confrontation of leading domestic and international performing artists. This year alone, it will feature over 100 artists and ensembles from 24 countries. It opens new horizons by presenting Czech and world composers' works in world or Czech premieres, and by showcasing projects that are often realized for the first time in the Czech Republic. Annually, it offers around 60 concerts, workshops, and accompanying events.
The current partnership structure of the festival consists of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Prague, General Partner ČEZ Group, Main Partner Doosan Škoda Power, Festival Partner innogy, Technology Partner CETIN, Concert Partners Allianz pojišťovna, ABB, Philip Morris ČR, General Media Partner Czech Television, Main Media Partner Czech Radio, Media Partner Hospodářské noviny, and Official Car Mercedes-Benz Czech Republic.
