“We have worked with many organisations for the Doosan Day of Community Service in the past, and this year we participated in other projects for the first time. The principal idea is always helping where help is needed,” said Richard Kabuď, HR Director at Doosan Škoda Power.
The amphitheatre in Lochotín and the Municipal Swimming Facility are ready for this season as a result of the activities of Doosan Škoda Power employees. Visitors to DEPO2015 can enjoy the upcoming summer with a new terrace, the foundations for which were laid at this year’s Doosan Day of Community Service. “Eight cubic metres of wood went into it and some of it was recycled from the meeting point café at Náměstí Republiky,” said DEPO2015’s Ondřej Kašpárek.
A concrete walkway was poured at the Kindergarten for Blind Children, using 150 kg of cement mix, and 100 seedlings were also planted. The gardens at Ke Špitálskému lesu Kindergarten and Masaryk Primary School were spruced up and a clean-up gave the surroundings of the Střela Scout Centre in České údolí a facelift. Volunteers also chopped down old dry trees at the Větvička Forest Kindergarten and then cut and split them for firewood.
Doosan Škoda Power volunteers also painted a 50 metre fence at St George’s Hospital using around five litres of paint and decorated the interiors of St Lazarus Hospice. They also visited the Bory and Lochotín Teaching Hospitals; some donating blood.
As in previous years, Doosan Škoda Power volunteers worked at the Ledce parsonage and mill. Some built a turbine shed using 24 sqm of roof cladding. “Others built a fence using 210m of planks. They used 20 litres of glazing and a kilo of screws,” added Petr Moravec of Ledovec.
