Doosan Škoda Power wins its first contract in Oman

Doosan Škoda Power is to supply two turbine sets with accessories to Salalah power station in the Sultanate of Oman, located near to the port town of Salalah. Each unit will have a capacity of around 90 MW.

The existing power station, with an installed capacity of 273 MW, will be expanded to include a new combined cycle power plant (CCPP), increasing its total output to about 450 MW. The IPP consortium investing in the project includes ACWA Power of Saudi Arabia, Japanese multi-national company Mitsui, and Omani company Dhofar Generating Company.

Doosan Škoda Power was awarded the contract by the main contractor for the project, Chinese EPC giant SEPCO III, with whom the Czech company is collaborating for the first time. The new power station will be operated by consortium partner for an initial 15-year period.

The contract was secured through a combination of competitive price and maximum turbine efficiency, once again reflecting the technological capabilities of Doosan Škoda Power’s steam turbines.
